Thor Bergersen, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Vermont and University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed residency training in adult psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and University of Vermont College of Medicine, where he was part of a research group investigating the genetics and medication treatment of childhood psychiatric disorders. He served as Medical Director for a multi-clinic outpatient mental health system in eastern Massachusetts prior to joining the Hallowell Center. He is board certified in psychiatry.
Catherine Birgeneau, Ph.D. is a graduate of Yale University and University of Massachusetts/Boston. Her clinical internship was at Massachusetts Mental Health Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. After receiving her doctorate, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in psychoeducational and neuropsychological testing. Catherine is experienced in psychoeducational consulting, individual and group therapy, and neuropsychological assessments.
Georgia Ede, M.D.
Georgia Ede, M.D. is a graduate of Carleton College in Minnesota and of the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She has complete residency training at the Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School’s Program for Adult Psychiatry and is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry. Prior to joining the Hallowell Center, she maintained a large community-based private practice in Falmouth, Massachusetts, where she also served as a consultation psychiatrist to Falmouth Hospital and as a staff psychopharmacologist for Cape Cod Human Services. Areas of special interest within her field include the psychopharmacology of attention and mood disorders, nutritional approaches to regulation of attention, mood, sleep and appetite, and the role of nutrition in the management of common ailments such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Migraine, Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. In addition to her affiliation with the Hallowell Center, she is also a staff Psychiatrist at Harvard University Health Services in Cambridge.
David D. Kemmerer, Ph.D.
David D. Kemmerer, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who completed both postdoctoral work and his clinical internship at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School. There, he specialized in short and long-term psychotherapy, as well as psychological testing. He was recently distinguished as a 2007-2008 Fellow of the American Psychoanalytic Association. He received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee, where he focused on both clinical practice and research related to psychotherapy processes, personality functioning, and psychological testing at national conferences held by the American Psychological Association and the society for Personality Assessment.
Shelley L. Rattet, Ph.D. Shelley L. Rattet, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist health service provider and trained clinical neuropsychologist, specializing on pediatric neuropsychology. She received her Ph.D. in clinical developmental psychology from Suffolk University and completed her postdoctoral fellowship in developmental neuropsychology at North Shore Children’s Hospital, where she remained on staff for many of years. Dr. Rattet has been published in peer reviewed journals and has been employed as an instructor in psychology at various colleges and universities in the Boston area. In addition to working at the Hallowell Center, she has a private practice in Natick and provides training and supervision in testing at the Brookline Mental Health Center. Dr. Rattet is experienced in the evaluation and diagnosis of ADHD, learning disorders, language processing disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, and pervasive developmental disorders. She works primarily with children, adolescents and young adults between the ages of 3 and 25 years of age. Dr. Rattet is also the Cogmed Working Memory Training provider at the Hallowell Center in Needham.
Dennis D. Plant, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and Certified Health Provider. After earning his Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee, he served his internship at the Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School's Program for Psychotherapy. He is currently a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School through Cambridge Hospital. Dr. Plant has a clinical background in psychotherapy, neuropsychological testing, psychoeducational and personality evaluations, and has co-authored journal articles and presented research papers on various aspects of psychological assessment. to top
Alissa K. Coggins, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist. She received her BA in both Spanish and Comparative Areas: Latin American Studies from Duke University and her doctorate in clinical psychology from Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Coggins has had training at Harvard Medical School, and at the Behavioral Medicine Program of the Cambridge Health Alliance. She is currently a staff psychologist at Children's Hospital. She has extensive experience in cognitive behavioral therapy in both children and adults. She also provides counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families.
Carol Gignoux, M.Ed While therapists help clients retain emotional control in the face of difficulties resulting from ADD, they usually don't offer the kind of specific planning and structured routines that people with this disorder must develop in order to function successfully in life. Carol works one-on-one with clients, focusing on behavior, to provide a workable structure and actionable plan for clients to become more successful at work or at home, professionally or interpersonally.
